"For so many young people these days, their image - especially on social media - has become almost an obsession and the pressure to 'look good' is intense. How must you feel if you suffer from some form of skin disease? I have wanted to undertake some form of volunteering for a while, and when I came across the Skin Deep charity I knew I wanted to help in anyway I could. I'm a student with a particular interest in fashion styling and I am looking forward to putting my talents to work for the Fashion Arts Show, which will be a fantastic opportunity to raise public awareness of and support for sufferers of skin conditions."

The prevalence of skin disease exceeds that of obesity, hypertension, or cancer. Despite skin being the largest organ of the human body, dermatological research remains one of the most under funded areas of medicine. In a world where society has an increasing preoccupation with image and it’s importance to every aspect of a person’s life, sufferers of skin diseases are feeling and being more marginalised and isolated than ever.
