I am delighted to be working on the fashion design team at SKIN DEEP Behind the Mask. I’m currently in my second year studying bespoke tailoring and I’m looking forward to putting my skills to use for this wonderful and inspiring event. I also work out of an art deco & antiques shop selling original vintage clothing, made to measure dresses and altering garments. Prior to studying tailoring I attended short courses on sewing, fashion recycling and dressmaking, my passion does lie within the fashion industry and I’m eager to embark on new adventures like this, not only to gain knowledge and experience but to meet all the different people involved.
The prevalence of skin disease exceeds that of obesity, hypertension, or cancer. Despite skin being the largest organ of the human body, dermatological research remains one of the most under funded areas of medicine. In a world where society has an increasing preoccupation with image and it’s importance to every aspect of a person’s life, sufferers of skin diseases are feeling and being more marginalised and isolated than ever.
