Sandeep Kalsi

Sandeep Kalsi comes from a science-based background having enjoyed a career in the pharmaceutical sector. She has worked on many clinical trials from a data perspective and was also involved in working for a non-profit making organisation assessing cancer patient’s data. A break mid-career was taken to pursue her interest in the Arts where she studied architecture and textiles.

“Volunteering for SDBM really has morphed into something quite special as I’ve always been interested in helping people. I did not realize severe cases of skin disease cause untold trauma as patients are left to deal with physical and psychological uncertainty. This charity is about giving hope and life back to sufferers by providing resources and practical help but most of all it is about real support. I hope this vision we share is achieved and I’m glad to be part of it.”

The prevalence of skin disease exceeds that of obesity, hypertension, or cancer. Despite skin being the largest organ of the human body, dermatological research remains one of the most under funded areas of medicine. In a world where society has an increasing preoccupation with image and it’s importance to every aspect of a person’s life, sufferers of skin diseases are feeling and being more marginalised and isolated than ever.
