Photo food diary: Foods for a healthy body & mind

by Sinéad Gormley

Hello again to all of my lovely readers! We're currently having an unexpected heatwave in Ireland, and as you'll see, a lot of my meals/snacks have been eaten outside. Safe amounts of sunshine are great for your skin and health, not to mention your mental health, so when I see the sun shining I like to get outside whenever I can.

This photo food diary is a simple and fun way for me to show you what I've been eating, and will hopefully give you some ideas for healthy bites, should you need some inspiration! This food diary is based on what I ate yesterday.

Manuka Honey cleanser/mask for acne prone skin

by Sinéad Gormley

When I was working in a health food store a few years ago, Manuka Honey started appearing on the shelves all of a sudden. As part of our training, we had to read up and study the facts about the products we were selling, and so I came to know all about this honey and it's amazing properties. I always remember one man that came into the store who told me about his son that was continuously catching colds and flus. They decided to start giving him a tablespoon of manuka honey a day and he actually stopped getting sick.

Healthy Turkey Chilli

by Sinéad Gormley

Turkey chilli is one dish I always go back to when I want some real (healthy!) comfort food. It’s
packed full of great ingredients that you will reap amazing health benefits from. If you’re not the
biggest fan of vegetables, then this is an ideal way to eat them, as the flavours in this dish make
everything taste so good. (I’ve tested this on my boyfriend, who isn’t too keen on vegetables, but
adores this dish!).

By Kofi Dwinfour

As you will, hopefully, know by now this September we will hold our inaugural Annual Masquerade Ball, Fashion Show and Art Exhibition. I believe that this single event is the most important thing that SDBM will do this year.

Natural skincare routine, morning time

by Sinéad Gormley

My skincare routine in the morning is a lot more simple than my night time one. And let's face it, who wants to spend too much time prepping your face in the morning when you're half asleep, I know I don't!

I like to cleanse, tone, moisture, and use an SPF, and here's how I complete these steps, using only natural products of course.

Face Mapping

by Sinéad Gormley

In the past, face mapping is something that I thought had little truth to it. But in recent years, the more I’ve read about it, the more I can see that it actually is a great indication of our inner health. Whenever I get acne, it’s always, without fail, located around my chin and jawline, and never anywhere else.

Green Tea Skin Care

By Kofi Dwinfour

Many nutritionists across the world recommend drinking green tea daily. The health benefits of green tea are huge and well established.  It can be drunk warm or cold – although many believe its benefits are far greater when drunk warm. Here are some of the proven ways that green tea benefits health:

Stand up and be counted

By Kofi Dwinfour

This week I want to up date some past blogs.

First up, Do Citizens Advice NOT Care about skin disease patients?

It seems I had a massive over reaction to Andrew Seager’s email message to me. One of our latest volunteers, Mandy Calder, was going through our Facebook page and noticed the discussion about Citizens Advice following my blog post. She tells me that:

Get involved, get the newsletter!

The prevalence of skin disease exceeds that of obesity, hypertension, or cancer. Despite skin being the largest organ of the human body, dermatological research remains one of the most under funded areas of medicine. In a world where society has an increasing preoccupation with image and it’s importance to every aspect of a person’s life, sufferers of skin diseases are feeling and being more marginalised and isolated than ever.

Please submit your e-mail address below to listen to the rest of this message, for further information or for ways to get involved with our charity.
