Great new volunteers at SKIN DEEP Behind the Mask

In a previous blog post I wrote about the joy of giving by volunteering. Since then I am delighted to welcome some amazing new volunteers here at SKIN DEEP Behind the Mask. I am truly astounded by the generosity of these wonderfully talented people. In this post, I should like to shine a spotlight on one in particular. Kimberly Kriss joins us a journalist/writer. Kimberly’s stellar career has seen her drive the direction of some of the world’s leading brands.

Kimberly studied journalism, loves to write and she has written engaging speeches, press releases and important presentations for blue chip global organisations - Pepsi, Sotheby's, Reebok, Accolade Wines, Rockwool, etc., as well as top charity organisations including Cancer Research UK and Shelter. Kimberly is a marvellous addition to our team. I am certain that we will all learn a lot from her. Read more about Kimberly’s achievements.

We have a number of very exciting events and campaigns for 2015 planned and we need volunteers to get out our message. Our Masquerade Ball, scheduled for September 2015 at the Grosvenor House hotel, needs to be the most talked about charity event of the year. Can you do this? The fundraising ball will feature two fashion shows, an art exhibition, music and an auction. Can you drum up the publicity to make it a roaring success? We have gained the support of a number of parliamentarians. Can you help us now get celebrity ambassadors? We are planning campaigns to support skin disease patients and their families. Can you get the media to care enough to run stories?

The prevalence of skin disease exceeds that of obesity, hypertension, or cancer. Despite skin being the largest organ of the human body, dermatological research remains one of the most under funded areas of medicine. In a world where society has an increasing preoccupation with image and it’s importance to every aspect of a person’s life, sufferers of skin diseases are feeling and being more marginalised and isolated than ever.
